Our design remit was to install a specific steel replacement window in 4 blocks of flats at Elephant & Castle. There were over 400 flats, but not all of the owners would want to replace them, so the window had to look very close to the original window so as to blend in.
The window chosen was our royale stepped look window.
The original windows were in a steel subframe, which had to stay due to planning constraints.
We were also asked to insulate the steel subframes to the inside and provide a bespoke aluminium capping to the outside.
We do not make claims about eliminating condensation, but we will let you judge for yourself the difference between before and after by viewing image #2.
Initially, we started with the lower 2 floors until scaffolding and mast climbers were erected.
These were also for use by painters and decorators for external redecorations. However, once they had finished their work, we had not finished ours, so we developed a safe working method to carry on installing windows from the inside without the need for scaffolding – see video on blocks of flats page.
To date we have installed over 190 flats in four different blocks.
Thank you for completing the window installation in our flat. Paul and his team could not have been more helpful. They were kind enough to move the heavy furniture for me and took down the window blinds. There were three small problems which Paul said he would send his team round to fix early the following morning. This he did and the faults were rectified. Thanks again.
