A massive thank you to you & your team for the work last week. The new windows look fantastic and I can see great care has been taken to refit the secondary glazing.

Living in a Grade 2 listed house built circa 1480, any replacement doors or windows had to meet the Council’s strict approval – in this case Royale aluminium French doors with flag windows, double glazed steel replacements. Both the You Choose Windows team and the builders met with the Council’s inspector on site, to reach an approved solution. I have no hesitation in recommending You Choose Windows to anyone contemplating similar work.

Just a quick email to say that we absolutely love our new windows! They look fantastic and we can already feel the difference in terms of heat and noise in the flat. Matt and his team made the whole installation process completely painless too. Many (many) thanks.
A O’Connor, London, SW4Choosing new replacement sash windows in white woodgrain pvc-u can be a tricky task so we have put together some popular FAQ, which you may find helpful
A sliding sash windows consists of two opening sashes that slide over one another.
The top sash slides over the bottom sash and stays in place with either a traditional weights and pulley system or a spiral balance system.
Spiral balances utilize a spiral-shaped rod within a tube. This rod connects to a spring, which is what provides the tension for supporting the sash. The tension is adjusted by being wound to match the sash it is supporting.
Yes you can, and indeed you must in order to comply with the building regulations. Sometimes, if you are in a grade 2 listed building this may not be the case, but please check with your local planning authority for confirmation.
It depends on whether you are in a conservation area or not, You will need to check this with your local authority.
Firstly, we will be installing new double glazed timber sliding sash windows that are no longer drafty, which is going to make a huge improvement. Secondly, you can consider installing 6.4mm or 6.8mm stadip laminate acoustic glass on one of the two panes of glass, the other being 4mm. This will improve the acoustic impedance by a further 10% to 15%.
White woodgrain pvc-u looks like timber but is maintenance free. It is also about 60% of the cost.
We now specialise in installing windows without the need for scaffolding in blocks of flats. We have a safe methodology to do this, which has been approved by our safety consultant.
We can reproduce your georgian bars using astragal bars which consist of duplex bars in between the glass and plant on bars on the inside of the inside pane and the outside of the outside pane. They create the illusion of separate panes, but in reality, they are not! You can have a full matrix or just vertical bars.
We recommend going out or being away while we are installing your new windows so that we can keep disruption to a minimum. We will make good any damage to plaster work up to decorating standard.
We have height restrictors that prevent the window being opened more than about 10cm, which acts as a child safety device and a burglar deterrent. This can be overcome from the inside only
We replace the complete box as well, as all our windows come with their own frame.
All our sliding sash windows apart from traditional weights and pulleys offer tilt back for cleaning s standard.
We will replace the existing architraving and internal nose boarding in new white hardwood to match the windows as a standard part of our fitting service.
All our timber windows come factory finished with microporous spray paint. There is no need for you to touch them up.
That will depend on if they are north or south facing. For north-facing typically they will last for up to 10 years without repainting and for south-facing it is more likely to be about 7 years.
Yes, because of our tilt back for cleaning feature, it is possible to remove the sashes, paint them and then put them back. This avoids the sashes getting stuck to the frame. We can come to assist you with this when the time comes, as it needs our expertise to remove the sashes!
